A perfect location for those seeking a respite from the stress of modern living or for the more adventure seeking outdoors enthusiast, The Barn (self catering cottage for 2-4 people) is set in the midst of a lively rural farming community. The conservation area of Norbury hamlet is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is just half an hour from two of the regions most famous market towns – Ludlow, a foodie’s paradise and historic Shrewsbury with it’s majestic river setting.
Lying just near the Welsh border between the Stiperstones ridge to the north and west, and the Long Mynd to the east The Barn is ideally situated for walkers and cyclists who wish to enjoy the many quiet lanes, footpaths, bridleways and tracks.
Thrill seekers will find a playground at the Long Mynd where you can take part in hang gliding, parascending and all sorts of other activities. Take a look at Things to do for more information.
Ornithologists will appreciate the regular sightings of red kites, buzzards, lapwing and curlews on the hills surrounding Norbury Village, and anglers are well served by fisheries in the area.
There are two pubs within a couple of miles (we can arrange to collect you if you walk there) and we are located only four miles from the market town of Bishop’s Castle with its range of interesting shops, pubs (two with their own breweries), and places to eat.
There are countless award winning eateries hidden around the region where you can dine on local cuisine in elegant surroundings or perhaps you prefer to chat with locals and visitors about your adventures, propping up a bar by a log fire – all tastes are catered for.
The accommodation itself is fully equipped and spacious, perfect for a couples retreat or a family holiday.
